Venue location
The location of the venue should be the first point you consider. Generally, the best venues are easy to find and are close to where you or the majority of your guests are going to be staying. Free parking for your guests is a definite added bonus!
How many guests can the venue comfortably hold?
It is important to ensure that your chosen venue has enough space to accommodate your guests comfortably. There are also legal limits on how many people you can safely have in each venue. Make sure you ask these questions before going ahead and booking.
Who caters at this venue?
Certain venues have contracts with specific caterers. This can be beneficial in some ways because they may be able to work out a package price for you which includes food and venue. However, if you have just one particular caterer in mind, you need to find a venue where they’re able offer their services.
Can you decorate/theme the venue as required?
The venue may be responsible for its own lighting and theming. Ensure you speak to them beforehand to specify your requirements. Alternatively, you may want complete control of the theming in which case your venue or caterer should be able to recommend a supplier. Ensure the theming company has enough time to access the venue before and after your function, to set up and clear away.
How much does it cost to rent the venue?
For those of you working to a budget, you must find out how much the venue costs and if it is within your budget. Catering costs sometimes come as a package with the venue cost, as do décor and theming services. Whatever combination you decide on, ensure that you have a clear quote as per your requirements and that there are no hidden charges!
