There are a number of factors that you may want to consider when choosing an Indian catering company. Your choice of company may depend on the occasion; weddings in particular are one of the most momentous occasions in a person’s life. You want your event to be memorable not just for you, but also your guests, and nowadays, the quality of food can make or break an event!

First and foremost, check that your choice of caterer is authorised to provide food at your venue. Most venues are very particular and will only allow food from certain companies. Once this hurdle is out of the way, you can go on to consider other factors. Does your catering company have a good reputation? Are their chefs well experienced? Do they have an extensive menu for you to choose from? What is the quality of their service like? If you’re planning on inviting a large number of guests, can they cope with the numbers? Do they deliver events that have the ‘WOW factor’?

It can prove very difficult to get truthful answers to these questions, as some companies will do anything to secure an event. Often word of mouth is the best way to get an honest picture of your catering company so try to speak to someone who has been to one of their events, and tasted their food. Alternatively, you could request to visit one of their catered events. The proof is in the pudding after all!

The next step is to go in for a food tasting, definitely the best part of choosing a catering company! Speak to an event manager beforehand and give them an idea of the types of dishes you’re thinking about for your event so that you get the most out of your food tasting. No doubt you’ll go in and want everything on the menu, but this is where the all important budget comes in! If you’re happy with the food and want to go ahead and book, make sure you negotiate a price that is aligned with your budget. Be wary of companies that quote you prices that are shockingly low – while this may be easier on your bank balance, you don’t want to compromise on the quality of the food or the finished look on your big day.

Taking time to choose your catering company is important. Although you want to get this ticked off your checklist, remember that if the food is bad, that is all your guests will remember of your event. Consult with your catering company down to the smallest detail to make sure your event is remembered for all the right reasons.
